Maximize the longetivity to your lashes

How to Maximize your Lash Extensions Longevity

Do you ever wonder why your friend’s eyelash extensions are lasting an extra week (maybe even two) longer than yours in between fills? If you feel like more than 50% of your lashes are missing when you head into your 2-3 week fill appointment then there is a problem! A true tragedy.

The real question is “why is this happening?”
The unwanted truth is − you’re probably not taking care of your lashes at home, BUT we are here to help! With these tips, your lashes will stay lush!

Cleansing your Lashes
Luckily, Barboleta offers a specially-formulated Lash Bath Cleanser that is safe for lash extensions and was specifically designed for eyelashes and eyelids to help aid the longevity of the extensions. This lash cleanser promotes healthy lashes and longer eyelash retention. With simple morning and night simple instructions, you’re bound to get the most out of your gorg lashes!

Makeups to Avoid
Certain cosmetic products can break down the adhesive faster than others. Cyanoacrylate is the main ingredient in eyelash extension adhesives, and is a polar molecule. Polar molecules are broken down by other polar molecules. Many cosmetics contain both polar and nonpolar molecules, and the ones that contain more polar molecules should be avoided to preserve the life of the lash extensions. If there is anything to take away from this section it’s to avoid any and all oil-based makeups at all costs.

Makeup Remover
Just like makeup, your makeup remover should not contain any oil-based ingredients. Makeup wipes are also not a good option for cleaning your lashes. As stated above, the Barboleta Lash Bash is your BEST option for thoroughly and safely cleansing your lashes. If you are wearing eyeliner or makeup that is very close to your lash line, you’re going to want to use a micro swab and not a Q-tip. Q-tips have fibers that will get caught in your lashes and will cause more harm than good.

Other Important Tips
We have a few more tips before you’re ready to fully maximize your lash life! Do not rub or pull at your extensions. The life cycle of a natural lash is 60-90 days. Your naturally shed 1-2 lashes per eye each day. The more you rub, the more lashes you will lose. Avoid using waterproof mascara at all costs. If you use it, you will have an extreme amount of buildup on your lashes that will be challenging to remove. There is a long list of ingredients to avoid in your products. A few of the major ones to avoid include: acetone, nitromethane, dimethyl sulfoxide, and methylene chloride.

Now that we feel like we have fully educated you on your at-home lash care, we hope this helps you to maximize the life of your lash extensions in between lash fills. If you ever have any questions that need to be more tailored to your personal lash care routine, one of our skilled lash artists would love to answer any questions for you.

From our Coiffeteria family to yours,
